How to Care for and Keep Your Furniture Looking New
Furniture is an investment, and a little regular care keeps it comfortable and good-looking for years.
Upholstery & foam seating
- Vacuum sofas and bean bags regularly to lift dust and crumbs.
- Spot-clean spills straight away; use removable covers where you can and wash on a cool cycle.
- Fluff and rotate cushions so they wear evenly.
Wood, metal & racks
- Dust wood shelves and tables with a soft dry cloth; avoid standing hot or wet items directly on the surface.
- Check and retighten bolts on racks, shelving and frames every few months.
- Keep metal dry to prevent rust, especially in humid weather.
Everyday habits that help
- Don’t overload racks, shelves or drawers beyond their rated capacity.
- Keep furniture out of direct sunlight to stop fabrics and finishes fading.
- Lift pieces to move them rather than dragging.
